Korean Youth Promote Education and Culture Exchange in Cambodia

A group of Korean youth took part in a cultural and educational volunteer program in Siem Reap, Cambodia, aiming to bridge the education gap through donations and hands-on activities. This initiative, led by Angels for Journey, the global youth club in Leaders Times, included the collection of used phones, school supplies, and scholarship funds to support local students.

Upon arrival, the group visited the world-renowned Angkor Wat to better understand Cambodia’s rich history and religious heritage. They then traveled to several rural village schools, including Hedes Bible School, where they conducted English reading sessions, played traditional Korean games, and shared cultural performances with enthusiastic local students.

One participant recalled teaching the traditional Korean game Gongi with peers of similar age, saying, “While teaching, I found myself learning from them. It was a true cultural exchange.” Many students, despite limited resources, expressed a deep passion for learning and surprised the volunteers with their English proficiency. In addition to educational interaction, the group donated the collected items, including smartphones and supplies, to support the students’ learning environment. Local teachers and missionaries expressed gratitude, stating that the support made a meaningful impact.

The program also included visits to other schools in areas such as Modul 3 and Bethel Takam, where volunteers danced with the children and learned local traditions. Despite the sweltering heat, the participants remained focused on sharing and learning.

“I came to Cambodia with a goal of promoting educational equality, but I left with lessons of diversity, inclusion, and deep appreciation,” one student reflected. “It was a life-changingexperience I will never forget.”
