I'm drawn to the gap between what people deserve and what they're given — and to the question of what one person can do about it.

That question has pulled me across borders: into classrooms where access to education is scarce, into memorials where the cost of war is still being counted, and into the quiet work of teaching, building, and measuring. None of it has been large. All of it has been accumulated.

I've learned that global problems are local problems repeated, and that solving them takes patience, evidence, and a willingness to be wrong before being useful.

Inequality is rarely a mystery. It's visible if you look, and movable if you stay. That's where I intend to spend my life.
