On August 6, 2025, continuing the interest in war that began with the Busan UN Cemetery, I visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on the anniversary of the bombing. Walking through the park and its preserved ruins, I learned how a single weapon caused between 100,000 and 180,000 casualties, including 20,000 Koreans who had been taken from their homes to Japan, along with lasting radiation illness for those who survived.

At the museum, seeing what the blast left behind convinced me such weapons should never be used, even in war. I interviewed a visitor about nuclear weapons and war, who told me that Hiroshima itself is proof they should never be used again, and that war is never the answer.

The most impressive moment was the lantern floating ceremony, where hundreds of lanterns drifted down the river. Watching them, I commemorated the innocent lives taken by the bombing and left with a firmer conviction about the cost of war.
